The idea of predicting the future of a child based on testing their frequency which shows how lucky they will be is a futuristic element to the archaic innate need for romance. Marie’s (Eleanor Wylde) frequency is superbly high making her more lucky and more perfect almost like a robot her intelligence rules over her emotions whereas Zak is the polar opposite therefore it is dangerous for Zak to be near hear because like opposing magnets they cause the universe to react to show them they should not be together.

At school they are given scientific names Marie is known as Marie-Curie while Zak is known as Isaac Newton then Theo is Nikola Tesla because he figures the true meaning of the Nikola Tesla quote they were taught at school. That quote is “knowledge determines destiny”, which is a major life lesson to anyone really. This does not stop Zak (Daniel Fraser) from achieving his dreams of turning his luck around and going against nature he strives to find a solution with the help of his friend Theo.

Theo’s short disappearance when Zak wanted Theo to get approval and give credit of the patented frequency invention. Then Theo arguing with his father about music versus science is a vague issue and probably is a huge discussion about more because him seeming like he is going far away and will not see his dad for a while adds to the mystery and mystique of this movie.

This British gem of a movie is excellent, elegant and eloquent. A scientific yet philosophical romance movie shown in terms of an experiment which is an intelligent take on how real life is like particularly romance. It represents how romance and sex has become desensitized and sometimes love hits like a brick and the pain is unbearable. It is just an emotional roller coaster as true love tends to be. This movie is similar to ‘Just My Luck’. But Frequencies or otherwise known as OXV: The Manual is more sentimental, sensual and sophisticated.

The length and depth the characters go to for love despite their friends and family telling them otherwise is really romantic. Then Marie questions how he is safe when he is with her so she finds out that he can control nature through his phone showing words that stabilize nature for him to say. Yet Marie finds out that Zak can control frequency to the point of convincing people to do anything . That frightens her on the truth of their relationship.

As we worry about relationship but cannot pin point anything to blame or truly question internally or externally. She wonders if he convinced her through raising his frequency levels and enforcing his power over her makes her feel used even when he assures her that is not the case. Only to find that Beethoven’s music stabilizes everyone’s frequency to a neutral level that makes no one have a higher frequency than another therefore no one could control anyone. When she finds her feelings for him are still the same it is happy ending indeed.

Intelligent and Insightful

Great movie yet doesn’t grab me to my seat. All of it has been done before but a cheerful movie nonetheless. The shaking, real-time found footage aspect is so passé. It was groundbreaking once a million years ago and it was big way back when and has been copied a million times before.

Now, it is repetitive and dull to do this in 2015. This movie is similar to ‘Back to the Future’ but it played it safe it needs to go above and beyond. ‘Back to the Future’ was and still is edgy and bold while this movie plays it safe and is afraid to go more out of the box and surprise us with something odd and new. This is a sic-fi movie it is allowed to do that.

Teens and a time machine is a ticking time bomb. Big surprise. Love the light-hearted aspect of teen love and friendships and family that focus and that mentality are beautiful. Teens and a time machine could work had there been more jokes and new concepts coming to be rather than redundant shots to explain the issue. I enjoyed the movie but all of it was expected except the exam part that was pretty funny. The repeat on actions should’ve been done only once instead of numerous times, Honestly, for us to understand the concept and move on to a bigger aspect of the movie. We are not that dumb and we would not tell the first part of a story a million times in case nobody got it.

Sci-fi has an exemption to be as vague as it can get in fact that’s better and more appreciated because the challenge to understand a bigger issue is always fun and useful. These repetitive shots are not the only issue. The MTV one-dimensional characters of the nerds and popular girls are another unrealistic misrepresentation of teenagers especially in this day and age.

Today, teenagers are wiser it is not the same and even then teenagers are not like how characters are television needs to mirror real life more to teach Teenagers how to cope with life not set them up for disappointment. The nerd in reality would never get a chance to date the popular girl her friends would ridicule him then her. It’s vicious and nobody discusses it. Yet the possibility of nerds and cool kids becoming friends and more is a good MTV Teen initiative that would tremendously reduce bullying all across the world.

That’s a beautiful message hopefully received in high schools around the globe. The lesson from this movie is to focus on the important stuff like science and politics to some degree, society, school, family, friends and even love. The main lesson is to do the right thing even it means losing what you want because greed causes destruction and playing God is not possible because there will always be an issue. This movie could be magical had it chose a different plot and script. The actors and the Director are all incredible. Hence the more jokes comment.

Jupiter Ascending

ja_mila_dom_rgb_2764x4096

Brought to you by non other than Andy and Lana Wachowski, the makers of ‘the Matrix’ – Both wrote and directed this film.

Starring Mila Kunis, Channing Tatum, Eddie Redmayne, Gug Mbatha-Raw and Sean Bean.

Right of the bat I felt this is similar to the Matrix in the fast pace of weird alien like people coming and going. I never fully saw the Matrix so the comparison stops now.

I could not wait to see a romantic movie with Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum and the fact that she’s an ordinary girl put in an extraordinary situation is enough reason for me to see. This movie is perhaps an adult sci-fi take on Cinderella with a twist in plot line where she, Jupiter (Mila Kunis) the housekeeper/maid is actually the queen of Earth and is in love with her bodyguard wolf-man, Caine (Chaning Tatum). ‘Bodyguard’ yes another similar movie minus the Sci-fi issue but both have a murderer issue.

The plot is simple Jupiter’s Dad dies right after wanting to name her Jupiter before she was even born. He is killed for some unknown reason by who we don’t know maybe he’s a sir or a scientist that knows too much both of which are unrelated to the main plotline but is added to explain why she might own Earth.

The sinister siblings who own the universe and all its planets want to murder her for just one more planet because they use Earth and its people as a farm for some immortality potion that regenerates youth where a 100 people per bottle can make a person centuries old look 24. That’s a scary fact of greed that had it exist it would probably take place these sci-fi films exist for a reason.

There is a lesson in this movie and it is taught through Jupiter’s journey through a metaphorical jungle. The fact that Jupiter gullibly accepted to marry (Balem Abrasax) is in of itself wakeup call. This is because he only wants to marry her to have the lineage and ownership of Earth and kill her right after. The pushover will not be that for longer because God took over and pushed him over right after he tried to murder her. Love conquers all. Family comes first. All these basic humane lessons are central to this movie. Sci-fi is not esoteric it is the real world just amplified to point out how we see a massive issue as if it is a minor one. Believe in the unbelievable. The surreal is really real because dreams can come true so do nightmares too.

I give the costumes and set design 5/5 because these are unbelievable and are definitely noteworthy. I give this movie 4 out of 5 stars. I really recommend it. However some issues were missing in it and they should have been explained or not added maybe. Case in point her dad who is is and reason for his death or why is she the Queen of Earth but actually is the maid and how in the end nothing changes except that she finds love.

Time Lapse Movie Review

time-lapse-(2014)-large-picture * A Stellar Sci-fi film. Written and Direct By: Bradley King Stars: Matt O’Leary you might recognize him from Disney’s, ‘Mom’s got a date with a Vampire’. Danielle Panabaker from ‘Sky High and ‘Yours, Mine, and Ours. George Finn from ‘Just Before I go’ (2014). ‘Warning : A few spoilers yet not that specific and not many. This movie is unpredictable. It avoids cliches in that it does not evoke suspense the usual way but through an unexpected deeper way. The Director and writer Bradley King as well as the writer B.P. Cooper and the wonderful actors all bring the movie’s basic essence to life. The way the dialogue is put and acted out and scenes set out is done beautifully and comes out effortlessly. The vagueness and vividness of the use of imagery and time in relation to people is just beautiful. It is quite refreshing to finally see something different. It has a very courageous in that it is combines comedy with sic-fi in an unusual beautiful way. Then there is a clever use of a lot of small elements in the movie which all are parts of the puzzle that is this movie and reality. The tension buildup progresses at a steady pace. The feeling of anxiety as opposed to fear or disgust is the motive of this film and that’s a deeper more meaningful purpose for a thriller. Other directors and writer should take note from Bradley King. The suspense is quite subtle but remains throughout the entire movie. There are a few stereotypical surprises here and there that were intended and brought to the film. These were not needed but add to the Director’s sensational sense of humor. This movie makes us look at our lives in a more clear way as all good sci-fi films tend to do. This film is truly realistic in that no aliens are in it and it’s in the present time not the future. It is basically about three 20-  somethings living together. First, Finn (Matt O’Leary) struggling, art-blocked painter makings ends meet as a plumber and manager of the apartment complex. Finn is living with his girlfriend Callie (Danielle Panabaker) a writter living on waitressing and having no time to write. Then living with them is Finn’s best friend Jasper (George Finn) a down on his luck gambler. As Callie checks on a tenant with a 2-month overdue rent bill she finds a strange machine that takes photographs of the events happening tomorrow at night and there is a wall log where photos are spitted out of the machine 8 am and 8pm but for the last week it does only 8 pm. She immediately shows the guys how the machine spits out polaroid pictures of their living room and shows an event that happened which they cannot recall. Then they get home and that photo happens only to return again to the machine at the same time and it spits the photo of the party tomorrow. Then she reads the log that states the tenant discovered a photo of his death and he would try to change that fact only to discover in the tenant’s storage unit is his burnt body yet his suit is fully intact. This causes them to be paranoid and greedy all the typical stuff but presented in an unimaginable way.The Photos predict will paint a masterpiece and that Jasper would finally win some horse bets. Callie will be splashing a smile in between them, standing in the middle in that unbelievable photo. Soon selfishness and greed would drive them mad with power, lust and hunger for passion, fame and glory only to end in complete misery. Playing God is scary and should not be meddled with and playing with people’s emotions as Callie does in the movie all throughout without giving all the movie away is just brilliant. Each character is relatable to some extent and teaches us a lesson that technology is not the answer to happiness and staying in one place to seem happy is not the answer. These characters needed to ignore the mystical signs and go out in the real world and be better to each other or see other people. I give this movie 9/10 because it shows the horrifying nature of the odd love-hate combination as far-fetched it might seem but to isolate oneself to that extent for a search for happiness based on a picture makes no sense. It is mirroring how people always want what they cannot have and once they get that they still feel the same and do not know who to blame and there is confusion this movie has this  psychological and scientific dichotomy.  I absolutely applaud it and it deserves all the best for being so unique.
